丝状病毒感染的动物模型

Animal models for filovirus infections

  • 摘要: 丝状病毒科包括马尔堡病毒属和埃博拉病毒属,是一些在人类和非人类灵长类动物(non-human primates,NHP)中最具致病性的病毒,可引起严重的出血热和很高的死亡率。针对丝状病毒的小鼠,豚鼠,叙利亚仓鼠和雪貂等小型动物模型已经建立,目的是筛选候选疫苗和抗病毒药物,并最终在被视为黄金标准的NHP模型中进行测试。在这篇综述中,我们总结了不同动物模型感染丝状病毒的发病机理,并讨论了每种动物模型在丝状病毒疾病研究中的优势和不足。

     

    Abstract: The family Filoviridae, which includes the genera Marburgvirus and Ebolavirus, contains some of the most pathogenic viruses in humans and non-human primates (NHPs), causing severe hemorrhagic fevers with high fatality rates. Small animal models against filoviruses using mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, and ferrets have been developed with the goal of screening candidate vaccines and antivirals, before testing in the gold standard NHP models. In this review, we summarize the different animal models used to understand filovirus pathogenesis, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each model with respect to filovirus disease research.
