Abstract: Aggressive encounters between animals of the same species have been termed as “agonistic behaviors”. Different to aggressions in predator-prey and other nonsocial interactions, agonistic behaviors widely exist in various aquatic animal individuals. To provide references for future research of agonistic behaviors and aquaculture, this article reviewed the expression forms, reasons, and mechanisms of agonistic behavior as well as its research status and development tendencies.
